Christel's Corner: Are You Using Your Power Wisely?

Kudos of this month

:: CHRISTEL'S CORNER ::

ARE YOU USING YOUR POWER WISELY?

Have you ever stopped to listen to how you speak to others? The energy of your words can make somebody’s day or break their spirit. This month I am asking you to become acutely aware of the things you say in simple conversation. Especially the negative or not so uplifting things since these directly lower your vibration and changing them can instantly raise it. How many phrases of powerlessness or helplessness do you say unconsciously? These phrases come from the place where you feel like a victim [a powerless person with no choices in life]. Experiencing the vibration of even a little powerlessness, or victim-hood can lead to feeling trapped, resigned, and eventually despair.

In my work I see so often how the lack of vibrancy in one’s life began a long time ago when a person gave up something important, because they thought they just couldn’t make it happen. This little but continual indulgence of powerlessness can lower your vibration, and at times lead to a health or spiritual crisis, in particular diabetes and spiritual malaise. A little preventive medicine today [preventing your vibration from sinking too low], can have a wonderful impact on your tomorrow.

A lowered vibration will easily take the spring out of your step, making your goals harder to achieve, and your life a limited experience. Imagine you are trying to lose weight, or learn a new language, or simply take time for yourself to meditate, cook, relax, or spend time with your favorite hobby, but feel powerless to find the time. Eventually, you become resigned to giving up that which you enjoy. Then the boredom or apathy sets in as you settle in to your routine of rarely finding the time for yourself, seldom making time to enjoy your life, or hardly ever trying something you’re your dreams begin to fade away. Suddenly you feel the heaviness of being caught in the grind of life, or the futility of a hamster pointlessly running on a wheel.

How can this happen? Easily, when you find yourself saying things like:

• “There just aren’t enough hours in the day,”
• “That’s just the way I am, I can’t change” or
• “That’s just the way things are.”

These spoken words are energetically translated into:

• “It’s no use trying; things will never be different;
• I am powerless to make changes in my life.

Remember, your cells are always listening to your decisions. What do you think they are able to do with this kind of information?

These phrases are the subtle victim energy that can sneak up on you when you get too busy, too angry, too down on yourself, or too chaotic to pay attention to what comes out of your mouth. Here’s how to start paying attention.

1. Notice if you lean toward the negative or the positive when someone asks you to try something new. What is your initial response to a new idea or way of life?
2. Do you use words like challenge, opportunity, or obligation? What energetic message is attached to these words? What is the vibration for you on these words? Do they feel heavy? Now compare those words with the energy of “adventure.”

3. Do you say, “I can’t” more often than “I can?” Can you hear how the word “can’t” literally stops short in your mouth, while the word “can” tends to flow out of your mouth? If you are unable to identify the vibration, listen to the sounds of your words.

One of my most central messages is that you are in charge of the vibration you set for yourself. You know that when you are feeling low that lighting a candle, dancing, playing with a pet, singing, and praying will easily raise your vibration. You also know that you can ask for help and if you are sincere in your request that you will be answered quickly. Now go a step further.

1. Monitor your words, and pay attention to your thoughts for the next five days. Notice if your first response is generally, “I don’t think it’s possible,” or “hey, let’s get creative and find a way.”
2. Keep a log of your first response to new ideas or the reasons you don’t live the life you deserve.
3. For every victim statement that feels static and sluggish, replace it with a dynamic statement that creates movement. Start with “maybe” instead of “no.” Instead of “I cannot,” try saying “maybe it’s possible.”
4. Follow up your new statements with some action. If you never have time for yourself, then look at your schedule and see if you are using your time wisely. Look at your overwhelming commitments and choose what is truly important to you rather than what you do so people will like you. Perhaps you want to quit smoking. When you hear yourself say, “no,” ask yourself “why not?”

Get creative. Dare to dream big, or at least a little bigger than you have been. Break out of your certainty or complacency and allow yourself to consider a different way of life. Sometimes the answer is to do one thing differently from how you have always done it. Take a different type of vacation than usual. Do something radically, utterly, and completely different in your life such as signing up for a singing class in adult education. Put your feet up and read a romance novel in the middle of the afternoon—when you could be working! Consider more possibilities than you have before. This simple choice will start raising your vibration and healing your boredom.

This is the beginning of creating a robust and resilient energy system. And remember since many illnesses begin in the damaged flow in the energy system, you are engaging in the very best kind of preventive health by keeping things flowing energetically. Remember, you are not designed to suffer the energetic stagnation produced by thoughts of helplessness or powerlessness. It is bad for you on every level. You are designed to be a dynamic flow of energy—to evolve. And this happens only when you make consistent choices to listen to the spirit inside of you. And you can’t listen if you are busy feeling negative, helpless, ripped off, cheated or somehow left out of the buffet line of life.

Consider the possibility that your life could be different—that you are not as powerless as you might feel. Stop talking yourself into what you can’t do, and start considering some alternate possibilities. I’m not asking you to be a cheerleader of positive thoughts that you don’t feel. Rather, I am asking you to consider something different from what you claim to know. Consider that you can change your vibration and feel better today. Easily. For free. On a bus, during your carpool, while walking the dog, or brushing your teeth. You can do it anywhere, anytime. It’s your choice. It’s your life..

It’s a simple way to get in touch with your personal power and begin to use it to accomplish your goals and live out and revel in your dreams! --Christel
