Choices that Heal Your Spirit Campaign:

:: CHRISTEL'S CORNER ::

Are you looking for your sign?

No, I don’t mean your astrology sign. I mean a sign that you have heard Truth, are in the flow, are following your guidance, or are on the right path. Let me explain:

At a recent workshop, I read a woman I’ll call Sandy who was broadcasting profound doormat energy. I saw that this was especially significant in her relationship with her children who I could see took advantage of her. I asked her if she was happy to play that role. She was not happy with my words and in fact initially firmly disagreed with me that this was her energetic broadcast. But truth is always recognized, even if not warmly welcomed and a couple of hours later she was ready to hear more about her broadcast.

I asked her to be open and simply consider the possibility that her energy system was an accurate reflection of what was happening in her life. She agreed. I know that once a person becomes willing to consider the possibility that their broadcast is very different from what they think it is, they have turned an important corner in looking at their shadow, giving them the power to change their broadcast. Sandy admitted that her relationship with her children was indeed troubling her and that she felt taken for granted and unappreciated. I asked her to consider that her doormat energy was teaching them how to treat her and that she could change it in an instant if she chose to.

I then saw that several other people in the room were also struggling with unwanted truths about their life. I told Sandy and the others to ask for sign to confirm the accuracy of the truths they were struggling to accept. For some it meant realizing that they needed to end a job, a marriage, change a relationship with someone close, or needed to move; for others it meant facing the fact that they had too much to gain from being ill to get well. I am a firm believer in asking for help in all things, and if you are struggling or wondering which direction to go in, ask God for a sign that you can clearly recognize.

The next day, Sandy made a sandwich for her son, who responded not with gratitude or excitement for this act of love, but rather criticism and disrespectful behavior. He complained that his toast was burned on his sandwich. Remembering my feedback from the workshop, she took a breath and said, “Since you don’t care for my sandwich, I’m throwing it into the garbage disposal.” As if in a daze, she walked to the disposal ready to fling the sandwich into the black void when her son jumped up and said, “No wait. Thank you for making me a sandwich. I would like to eat it.”

Sandy didn’t know whether to be more shocked by her words or her son’s reaction because he had never thanked her for anything before this moment. In fact, he had taken many of her actions for granted. Suddenly Sandy recalled my words from the workshop and realized that her old energy had been that of a doormat, inviting the world to wipe their shoes on her. But remember, she had asked for a sign to confirm what she knew, but didn’t want to know. It was about to come in the form of a birthday gift the next day.

She excitedly opened the gift from her son and imagine her surprise as the wrapping paper fell to the floor revealing a brand new, never before used, amazing, DOORMAT! Obviously, she had a great laugh, realizing she had heard Truth even if initially she had not wanted to accept it. She said a prayer of gratitude for her sign, and determined then and there to change the parameters of her relationship with her children. She vowed never to be a doormat again. She made a choice in that instant. That is the power of Truth; I promise it will change your life for the better.

Sandy’s experience was both hilarious and obvious. But sometimes signs are not wrapped in shiny paper with a bow. Imagine you are embarking on a path and everything seems right. In fact, it seems like you are in the flow. And then suddenly, you’re not too sure.

John needed to find a new home. After three weeks of looking at over fifty apartments, he became tired and distraught. Time was running out. He said a prayer for help and found himself at a luxury apartment complex within his budget. It had everything he had prayed for: a gym, a business center, lots of windows, and easy access to public transportation. It was perfect, except for that nagging, niggling, annoying feeling inside of him that it did not feel right. John tried to ignore the feeling because he knew that feeling intimately. It meant he was not in the flow. This was not information he wanted to hear. He tried to talk himself into the apartment by reviewing all of its wonderful aspects, and the fact that he had prayed and came to this complex immediately after the prayer. He wanted it to work. He made an appointment to sign a lease, yet, the nagging feeling didn’t go away.

Then he made an important decision. He surrendered his struggle and his fear and his mental ping pong. Asking for help was the best decision he made that day. He asked God for a sign to know this was the apartment for him. As he turned the key in his car, his eyes fell upon his left arm. To his horror a flea sat perched and poised to jump. He threw the flea and the brochures out. His sign was evident. This was not the place for him. The next day, he found the apartment he had prayed for. This time however, there was no nagging feeling because he was in the flow.

I hope that all of you will make the same decision as John. Surrender your fear and need for control, and ask for a sign that you are following your guidance, listening to Truth, or are on the right path. It was save you countless hours of suffering and distress. So go ahead, find your sign! And yes, sometimes the sign can be as small as a flea!
