Christel's Corner: Ask for a sign...Signs can rock your world!

Kudos of this month

:: CHRISTEL'S CORNER ::

ASK FOR A SIGN...SIGNS CAN ROCK YOUR WORLD!

You must work diligently to keep your distance from God or your Higher Power. You must work even harder to ignore the synchronicity and many signs put before you to assist your journey to raise your vibration, heal your conflicts, and promote your spiritual growth.

At a recent retreat, “Randi” knew what she had to do but was scared and conflicted about her major life decision. I suggested she ask for a sign to comfort her. She asked for and immediately received a sign, but apparently, it wasn’t big enough. So she asked again for a somewhat bigger sign. And once again received it, but again, it wasn’t quite enough.

I remember those days; asking for a sign and not being sure it was a sign because my logical mind tried convincing me it was all a coincidence. Like seeing a vision in a meditation, drawing it on paper, and then by chance, seeing it in a healing chamber in the mountains of Peru. Or asking to see a llama and suddenly finding a llama standing behind me [in a most unlikely place] and then convincing myself that animals indigenous to a region could turn up any place. All coincidental, of course.

Signs can be big or small, serious or quite funny. You will get what you ask for. The key to asking for a sign is to ask for something that will be clear to you. A butterfly floating past your car is generally not a sign—unless it is a very rare species and doing the famous butterfly dance for your benefit!

Years ago, while traveling, Rebecca wanted a sign to confirm a decision she had made. It came into her mind that seeing a clothespin would be a sign. She saw no clothespins while on her trip and with a heavy heart returned her car to the airport. While checking beneath the seat to make sure she hadn’t forgotten anything, something caught her eye. Of course, you know what it was, a humble, wooden clothespin, just like the ones from her childhood. What are the chances? Of course, it was a total confirmation that she was in the flow with her decision.

A woman and her daughter were on their way to see about renting a new apartment and asked for a sign to know if it was the right place for them. They prayed and decided if there was a blue wall it would be the right place. Now, if you live on the east coast this would be no big deal, but on the west coast [where neutral colors seem to be the norm], it is. Low and behold, they found one and a half blue walls in the apartment.

One sign is enough sometimes, unless you are a “3-Sign” person. One such woman was nervous about a major life decision and needed a sign. “If I see a fox, I’ll know I made the right decision,” she prayed. While hiking she saw a fox, but wasn’t convinced. She asked to see a second fox, and still wasn’t convinced. “Okay,” she declared, “If I see a third fox, I’ll know it was a sign.” She saw three, and stopped at three; it is the magic number.

When you engage in the world outside of the obvious, [or what you see with your physical eyes], and yes, I am talking about the mystical world, you need to park your logical mind at the door. Be open to all possibilities. You can’t listen to your intuition or guidance if your analytical brain insists on years of research studies, or spreadsheets with logical algorithms. How about some good old fashioned faith based on that shiver of truth that runs through you when you know something deep in your core?

When you want to confirm your inner voice, you can use signs as a guide.

1. Be clear. What would constitute a sign for you?

2. Be open. When you ask for a sign, be ready and willing to receive an answer. You can’t listen if you are too busy logically explaining away the phenomenon.

3. Be respectful. Signs are a form of guidance. Don’t ask for a sign if you know what you need to do but have already decided not to do it.

4. Be flexible. Remember that your prayers and intentions are often answered in unexpected and surprising ways.

5. Be truthful. When you get your sign, sit with it. If you are still wondering if it’s a sign, take a moment to explore why you would want to work at disproving it.

It was time for Randi to ask for that third and final sign. I was reminded of the sign I had asked for while trekking through Machu Picchu in Peru. I said I needed a sign that was so big that it would stop me in my tracks and force me to take notice. Around midnight, hiking a dangerous path over 10,000 feet in elevation, we came upon three large llamas sitting easily yet firmly on our path. No prodding, pleading, or pushing moved them. We had to turn around and make our way precariously to another path.

The llamas were big, they did indeed stop me in my tracks, and they forced me to take notice of them; their beautiful and sensitive eyes captivated my attention, my heart, and my soul. The shiver of truth exploded within me.

It was Randi’s turn to confirm her intuition. The third night, Randi asked for her third sign. She wanted to see a magpie. The next day, when she returned to her hotel from hiking, she saw not one, but three magpies sitting on her deck. She was overjoyed and her heart was eased.

The purpose of asking for a sign is not to test the system, but to get clarification and guidance. If you feel the need to test the system, feel free to waste valuable time distracting yourself for as long as needed to find out why you don’t want confirmation of what you already know you need or want to do. But if you’re ready for more spiritual growth and evolution, start asking and start receiving!

:: KUDOS OF THIS MONTH ::

To all participants who gave it their best at the July Ketchum Adventure Retreat!

You made amazing choices that were healing, inspirational, powerful and life-changing. Kudos for walking through your fears.

We were thrilled with your physical abilities and willingness to "go for it," and go beyond where you believed you could go.

Thank you for allowing your pictures to be part of our slideshow on youtube.com. You are an inspiration for all who want more in life.

Special thanks to the resident photog, Sue A. We know that camera bag was getting heavy on the "Christel Hike" to the top of Mt. Baldy.
