Christel's Corner: Are you a light worker?

:: CHRISTEL'S CORNER ::

ARE YOU A LIGHT WORKER?

A quick reminder regarding the Sun Valley Adventure Retreat 9/2-9/6 2009.

First, scholarship applications and instructions are on the second page of the downloadable PDF. Deadline is August 1.

Second, if you are planning to challenge yourself to hike to the top of Mt. Baldy, begin walking NOW. You have six weeks to get in better shape. If you are just beginning, walk 15 minutes per day x 3 days and then gradually increase your time as possible. Wear good walking shoes, and NEVER continue to walk when you have a slight irritation or pain in your foot. Stop and apply moleskin. Band-Aids do not work and are useless for blisters.

Hope to see you soon,
Christel & Rebecca

What does it mean to be a light worker?

I used to live next door to a neighbor who was a gifted gardener. His yard was abundant with a variety of plants; everything was greener, bigger and lusher in Clem’s yard. He always knew exactly what plants needed more or less water, light or nutrients. He knew when a plant wasn’t happy with its neighbors and when it needed to be moved to a friendlier location. He knew this because the plants spoke to him and he listened. This communication was so natural and ongoing to him that he could not imagine gardening without it. He had a gift for plant communication.

Like my neighbor who had a gift for sensing the energies and needs of plants, there are those who are attuned to and have an affinity for sensing the balance between darkness and light. They are aware of where the vibration is low and darkness is entering. Likewise, they have an affinity for sensing where the vibration is higher and more light filled. And they are acutely sensitive to the balance, the changes between the two forces. They are aware of the battle between good and evil.

These people do not ask for this ability, they simply have it. It is an archetype and part of one’s spiritual DNA. Like the color of your eyes, you don’t choose it, but it can be cultivated and nurtured. Light workers know, even if they don’t want to. They can sense the balance of light and dark, and are aware of when there is not enough light. This can happen in many settings; it may happen on a walk where they know a lake is in danger of becoming polluted and needs cleaning up, they may know a family member is in danger of slipping in to a dark place and hold the space in the family for love and tolerance, and it could be less subtle involving the dark energies of unkind entities, low vibration people, and dark energetic patterns such as the need for vengeance, or the “eye for an eye” attitude.

It is important to know that this is not some airy fairy “oh I’m a light worker” situation. When people run around telling everyone they are a light worker, it is the same to me when people take great pride in being a “healer.” Often this is nothing more than a way of someone making themselves feel better about themselves, getting attention and trying to have power over others. (Anyone recognize the symptoms of second and third chakra depletion?) The motivation is all wrong and is ridiculous at best and dangerous at worst.

A true healer or light worker archetype knows the nuance of their gift. Many people have the capacity to be a healing instrument or to create a space of safety, light, and high vibration but that alone doesn’t indicate a healer or light worker archetype. Remember that archetypal energies are part of your spiritual DNA and cannot be compromised or ignored. If you are wondering about your archetypes, consider coming to the Archetype Workshop in February, 2010.

A true light worker goes about their work quietly and without need for adulation. If noticed they don’t fall in to false humility but instead accept the appreciation and then move on. They do their work because it is their archetypal calling. However, it’s not their only calling. Light workers almost always have a day job in the “real” world and responsibilities. It is not a full time occupation or one’s only occupation. It is simply an affinity for sensing the balance of good and evil, and light and dark.

It is essential for every light worker to maintain balance between their etheric awareness and their physical well being. Like a healer, it is not healthy or smart to work 24/7. A true light worker knows they need a break and will do things to take care of themselves. It may be some form of enjoyable physical work or exercise, connecting with friends, cooking, or a creative endeavor. Doing something that makes you smile and laugh is fantastic. But it is something far away from being attuned to the battle for good and evil, life or death.

A good light worker is also not codependent. This means knowing and being at peace with the knowledge that not every situation you know about is a situation you can do anything about. Not everyone who is slipping in to a low vibration wants a way out. Not everyone who is sick wants healing and not everyone who is embroiled in negativity wants to change, no matter how much they seem to be suffering. This means that even if you as a light worker see clearly what needs to change, if you are met with resistance, with anger, or with an attack, you back out. You don’t go headlong unasked for into every situation that you see needs uplifting. You will learn as you go along to sense the energy in a situation more accurately. You will learn the difference between the words that are spoken and the true energetic message.

There is more than enough work to do without taking on people who are choosing to be in the darkness. Instead, offer your prayers, stay attuned to the light, stay connected to God and don’t get discouraged. Also, don’t do battle. You are a light worker, not a warrior. Go where you are invited, where there is a request for help, where there is an opening to change, where there is a desire for a change of direction. You have a gift and need to use it judiciously.

Just because you have archetypal gifts, doesn’t mean they are fully developed, at a high vibration or that you don’t need to hone them. I think about those with a shaman archetype. It would be downright stupid to send them off to do soul retrievals without the proper education, field work, and mentoring, even though they have an archetypal gift to journey into the etheric. Encountering dark forces during a journey is not uncommon, nor is seduction and relative danger. These gifts are precious, and require respect, development and care.

So light workers, bring your prayers, your ability to change the energetic resonance of a situation, get in and get out and move on to the next call.

--Christel
